Definisjon:
Allergi overfor lateks kan være både forsinket og umiddelbar
Forekomst:
Er i den generelle befolkningen 1-2%. Helsearbeidere, atopikere og pasienter som har vært hyppig operert er mer utsatt
Symptomer:
Eksemforandringer med hoven, sår og kløende rød hud er vanlig, ev. væskefylte blemmer og sprukken hud, ev. også luftveisproblemer som nese- og øyeplager og astma
Funn:
Eksemforandringer, dermatitt, på eksponert område
Diagnostikk:
Prikktest er den mest sensitive metode for å påvise straksallergi, mens lateksspesifikt IgE har variabel sensitivitet og spesifisitet
Behandling:
Unngå eksponering og behandle reaksjoner. Lokalbehandling med kortikosteroider, ev. peroral kortison, antihistaminer eller anafylaksiberedskap med adrenalinpenn
