Øyeforandringer ved hypertyreose (endokrin øyesykdom)

Definisjon:
Eksoftalmus som skyldes betennelse i muskel og fettvev i orbita som følge av autoimmun hypertyreose. Prosessen kan ha et hurtig progredierende forløp hos 5–10 %
Forekomst:
Ingen uvanlig tilstand
Symptomer:
Hevelse rundt øynene, smerte og trykk bak øynene, smerte ved bevegelse av øynene, skleral injeksjon og lysskyhet. Senere utvikling av eksoftalmus
Funn:
Periorbitalt ødem, retraksjon av øyelokkene, injeksjon i konjunktiva, ødem og framoverskytning av øyeeplene
Diagnostikk:
Tyreoideafunksjonsprøver
Behandling:
Lette grader behandles konservativt, uttalte plager behandles initialt med glukokortikoider, ev. kirurgi
