Polyarteritis nodosa

Definisjon:
Systemisk, nekrotiserende vaskulitt som rammer små og middels store arterier, og som ikke rammer arterioler eller venuler, og heller ikke medfører glomerulonefritt
Forekomst:
Sjelden sykdom. Prevalens på omkring 6 pr 100.000
Symptomer:
Et sammensatt kompleks av vaskulitt-manifestasjoner fra mange organer
Funn:
Vaskulitt med sirkulasjonsforstyrrelser i en lang rekke organer
Diagnostikk:
Forhøyede akutt fase-reaktanter. ANCA negativ. Vevsbiopsi fra hud eller andre organer er avgjørende for å fastslå diagnosen
Behandling:
Avhenger av sykdommens utbredelse. Langvarig steroidebehandling, ofte cytostatika og DMARDs i tillegg
