Definisjon:
Er en gruppe ormeparasitter som forårsaker infeksjon hos mennesker gjennom kontakt med parasittegg og -larver som trives i varm og fuktig jord i verdens tropiske og subtropiske land
Forekomst:
Mer enn 1 milliard mennesker er infisert med minst én helmintisk infeksjon
Symptomer:
Tilstanden er vanligvis asymptomatisk, men den kan noen ganger gi magesmerter og diaré
Funn:
Ofte ingen kliniske funn, men det mest typiske funnet er rektalprolaps
Diagnostikk:
Tilleggsundersøkelse er påvisning av typiske egg i avføringen
Behandling:
Antihelmintika (mebendazol)
