Definisjon:
Akutt hepatitt forårsaket av hepatitt E virus (HEV). Vannbåren smitte, ev. overført fra matvarer eller direkte fra dyr
Forekomst:
Epidemisk form er vanlig i u-land. Sporadiske tilfeller med smitte i i-land. Ikke overgang til kronisk hepatitt hos immunfriske.
Symptomer:
Inkubasjonstid 3-8 uker. Prodromalfase med allmennsymptomer, ikterisk fase og gradvis rekonvalesens.
Funn:
Ikterus, ev. forstørret lever og milt.
Diagnostikk:
ALAT forhøyet, PCR i blod eller avføring, positiv HEV anti-IgM i symptomatisk fase.
Behandling:
Konservativ, støttende behandling. Hygieniske forholdsregler ved reise i endemiske områder.
