Tannkjøttbetennelse, gingivitt og periodontitt

Definisjon:
Betennelse i tannkjøttet (gingivitt) som skyldes en patogenetisk mikroflora i biofilmen eller de dentale plakkene som dannes nær tennene
Forekomst:
Gingivitt forekommer hos 50-90% av alle voksne i verden
Symptomer:
Dårlig ånde og tannkjøtt som lett blør ved tannpuss og bruk av tanntråd
Funn:
Tannkjøttet er svullent, glinsende, mørkerødt og lettblødende
Diagnostikk:
Ev. røntgen
Behandling:
God munnhygiene med regelmessig tannpuss og bruk av tanntråd
