Definisjon:
Appendisitt, akutt betennelse av blindtarmen
Forekomst:
Hyppigste akutte gastrokirurgiske tilstand. Rammer ca. 115 per 100.000, høyest insidensrate i alderen 10-29 år
Symptomer:
Smerten utvikles typisk over 12-24 timer, starter sentralt i abdomen med smertevandring til høyre nedre kvadrant. Feber og oppkast er vanlig
Funn:
(Sub)febril pasient som helst vil ligge i ro. Øm i nedre høyre kvadrant med defens
Diagnostikk:
CRP er som regel forhøyet. Urin-hCG må tas hos kvinner i fertil alder. CT og ultralyd kan være aktuell bildediagnostikk
Behandling:
Kirurgisk appendektomi som laparotomi eller laparoskopi
