Definisjon:
Genetisk betinget, autoimmun, kronisk inflammatorisk tarmsykdom som utløses ved inntak av glutenholdige matvarer
Forekomst:
Prevalens er i Norge ca 400 pr 100.000, men bare 25-40% får stilt diagnosen. Prevalens ca. 0,5% hos barn
Symptomer:
Kan debutere i alle aldre og er ofte ukarakteristiske. Mest typisk er (voluminøs) diaré, oppblåst mage, magesmerter og malabsorpsjon. Mange har milde symptomer eller er asymptomatiske
Funn:
Er forholdsvis sjeldne, hos barn kan det foreligge veksthemming
Diagnostikk:
Mest sensitive test er transglutaminase-antistoffer
