Definisjon:
Matallergi er en ugunstig immunrespons på matproteiner mens matintoleranse ikke involverer immunsystemet
Forekomst:
Prevalens er høyest blant barn opptil 3 år med estimert kumulativ prevalens på 7-8%
Symptomer:
Kan oppstå fra øyne, nese, lunge, hud og tarm
Funn:
Sjelden funn av betydning, men kan være tegn til mistrivsel, vekttap, vekststopp hos barn
Diagnostikk:
Tilleggsundersøkelser er blodprøver, hudprikktest, ev. kostprovokasjon
Behandling:
Eliminasjonsdiett, i sjeldne tilfeller medikamentell behandling
