Definisjon:
Overflatisk bakteriell infeksjon i urinblærens og uretras slimhinner uten graviditet, kompliserende anatomiske forhold eller sykdom. Sjelden vannlating, tørre og tynne slimhinner samt seksuell aktivitet gir sannsynligvis økt risiko
Forekomst:
Den vanligste bakterieinfeksjonen hos kvinner, utgjør ca. 3,5% av alle kontaktårsakene i allmennpraksis. I aldersgruppen 20-60 år er forholdet kvinner:menn 100:1
Symptomer:
Akutt debut med svie/smerter ved vannlating, hyppig vannlating og økt vannlatingstrang er typiske symptom
Funn:
Blakket urin med sterk lukt er vanlige tegn, ev. blod i urinen
Diagnostikk:
Sykehistorie og urinstix er vanligvis nok til å stille diagnosen. Urindyrkning anbefales ved terapisvikt eller kompliserende forhold
Behandling:
Går som regel spontant over i løpet av en uke, men antibiotika av 1-3 dagers varighet forkorter symptomperioden
