Definisjon:
Kalles også smertefull blære-syndrom. Karakteriseres ved blære og underlivssmerter kombinert med urge og hyppig vannlatning både dag og natt, uten funn som kan forklare tilstanden
Forekomst:
Ti ganger flere kvinner enn menn rammes, hyppigst fra 30-40 år. Prevalens anslås 5-500 per 100.000
Symptomer:
Symptomene er svært ofte lik de ved urinveisinfeksjon med lindring av smerte ved vannlating
Funn:
Typisk foreligger normale funn
Diagnostikk:
Urindyrkninger er negative
Behandling:
God informasjom og forklaring. Det finnes ingen spesifikk behandling
