Definisjon:
En progressiv retinal nevropati der skade av ganglieceller og retinale aksoner i n. optikus gir skotomer og synsfeltsutfall. Årsak ukjent
Forekomst:
Global prevalens over 40 år er 3,5%
Symptomer:
Asymptomatisk lenge, men etter hvert oppstår tiltakende synsfeltsutfall
Funn:
Synsfeltsutfall, ekskavert papille - overstiger 2/3 av papillediameter, nasal forskyvning av retinale kar og hos ca. 75% forhøyet øyetrykk
Diagnostikk:
Utredes videre av øyelege
Behandling:
Individualiseres og består i medikamenter, laserterapi og/eller kirurgi
