Definisjon:
Tørre øyne har multifaktoriell etiologi
Forekomst:
Vanlig plage hos opptil 30%. Hyppigere blant kvinner og hos eldre
Symptomer:
Tørre øyne, irritasjon i øyet, fremmedlegemefølelse, brennende fornemmelse, fotofobi, forbigående tåkete syn
Funn:
Kan være lett hyperemi, slimtråder, korneaskader
Diagnostikk:
Schirmers test og tear break-up time er med på å bekrefte diagnosen
Behandling:
Hovedehandlingen er kunstig tårevæske. Ev. omega-3, ciclosporin, pilokarpin, eller tetracyklin
