Nekrotiserende enterokolitt (NEC)

Definisjon:
Iskemisk nekrose av tarmmukosa med alvorlig infeksjon med gassdannende bakterier hos premature. 
Forekomst:
En av de vanligste gastrointestinale akuttilstander hos svært premature. Insidens blant barn født før uke 32 er 2-7%
Symptomer:
Plutselig ernæringsvansker, oppblåst, kvalme, magesmerter. Medtatt allmenntilstand, ev. sepsis
Funn:
Ileusbilde; gallefarget aspirat, abdomen utspilt og øm. Blod i avføringen
Diagnostikk:
Klinisk undersøkelse. Full blodstatus og infeksjonsprøver. Røntgen oversikt abdomen som viser luft i tarmvegg eller fri luft i bukhulen bekrefter diagnosen. 
Behandling:
Tarmhvile, antibiotika i sepsisdoser. Støttende behandling. Ikke uvanlig med behov for tarmreseksjon
