Definisjon:
Tilstanden skyldes en glidning i epifysen mellom caput femoris og metafysen
Forekomst:
Insidensen er i Norge 6,8 tilfeller per 100.000 i aldersgruppen 9-15 år. Diagnosen stilles ved gjennomsnittsalder 12 år hos jenter og 13 år hos gutter
Symptomer:
Snikende utvikling med hofte-, lår- og knesmerter og vanligvis nedsatt bevegelighet - i enkelte tilfeller kan tilstanden debutere akutt
Funn:
Klinisk finnes nedsatt innadrotasjon i hoften
Diagnostikk:
Røntgen bekrefter diagnosen
Behandling:
Immobilisering og snarlig kirurgi der epifysen/leddhodet fikseres med skrue eller pinne
