Definisjon:
En kronisk, inflammatorisk, autoimmun leddsykdom som særlig rammer ledd i hender og føtter
Forekomst:
Prevalens er 0,5-1% i den voksne befolkningen i vestlige land
Symptomer:
Symmetriske leddbetennelser i særlig hender og føtter, men alle ledd kan angripes. Allmennsymptomer er vanlig.
Funn:
Er i tidlig fase artritter i MCP-, PIP- og MTP-ledd, men debut med mono- eller oligoartritt i andre ledd forekommer
Diagnostikk:
Viktige tilleggsundersøkelser er anti-CCP og RF, SR og CRP, røntgen
Behandling:
Sentralt i behandlingen er syntetiske DMARDs og biologiske DMARDs
